Update: official word from Pens that John Barbero has passed.
We wanted his voice in Consol. A very, very, very sad day.

A lot has been going on lately, believe it or not. Really, though, we can't claim we're privy to it personally.
We just love hockey. It is seriously about high time that the season starts and puts us out of our misery.
Rumors going around that Pens announcer John Barbero was not doing very well today and may have passed away this evening. No confirmation, but either way you should keep him and his family in your thoughts. What. A. Voice. Overenthusiastic monster truck guys like they have in Washington should respect.

Our Blingee contest does indeed have a resolution. Here is a mere taste of what is to come:

from our personal Blingee Master, [TP]

Finally, Consol Energy Center glimmering in yesterday's sunshine after the big rainstorm:

If you've been to CEC lately, it feels like an exhibit from the future. All of the gates are named after companies. The inside looks bright white like a concept sketch--which is strangely exciting.

The old barn:

Might be one of the last times I get to see it.
She's pretty, isn't she?

That's all for now. Big stuff coming soon. I know we keep promising that, but we still think next season is "soon."
We have no concept of time. If we did we'd die waiting for hockey.
GO PENS.

FOR HAPPY NEWS:
check out pittsburghpenguins.com tomorrow at NOON for a live stream of the press conference where we get big-time Winter Classic logo/uniform announcements and Gary "Horsehair Plaster" Bettman action. Dear god.

RIP John Barbero. He and Roger Doucet are singing Holy Diver right now with RJD in a much more sacred place than here, just fyi.

I was spat out from a classical royal family. My Mama hung out with Roger back in the day, and actually gigged/hung out with ELP during the '76 Montreal Olympics. It's a weird but cool job to sing anthem things at sports events when you're classically trained, and would totally prefer to be doing operas, lieder and such. With Ronnie James Dio.

So glad you're back up. WTF? Bloguin's Bitch, or Wha?

And did you mean "Plaster Clasters" re Bettman? Please say no. Without divulging too much, I can tell you FER SHUR (to quote TK) that NO FUCKING WAY would they have wasted their time and saliva trying to make that equipment remotely functional or interesting. Nuh-uh.

To repeat MouthGuard's sentiments, RIP John Barbero. I’d be lying if I said I knew him by name, but what.a.voice. He'll be missed :(

On a happier note, Glad you bitches are back. The internets hasn't been the same without yous. I’m uber excited for the PH road trip and to see your impressions of my fair city. Rest assured a parade has been planed in honour of your arrival, with Luke Schenn & Kris Versteeg riding in front on a unicorn-float.

TP, I am in awe of your mastery of the art of blingee making. Mine are pure child’s play in comparison :(. Sigh I guess you either have it or you don't.

Lulz @ this summer, hockey-wise. Weird shit a-happening. Especially the whole Kovalchuk dramarama. Seriously, Days of Our Lives has nothing on this shit. Him and the Devs are just star-crossed greedy lovers, and the NHL is keeping them apart :`(. In the words of the late great twitterer @paulbiznasty, back to the soviet you commie. USA! USA!

Is it official? Are you bitches invading Toronto? If so, make sure you add these venerable establishments/awesome activities to your Drive-By Toronto Experience:

** Honest Ed's. Lives up to its hype as the World's Greatest Retailer of Necessary Kitschy Crap, and then some. If you need new glasses and/or a new lawn mower, it'll be your lucky day! Bonus if you're feeling sick, 'cause the pharmacist will write you a Rx that is legal only for ferrets and alpacas in the States. I love you, Honest Ed.

** The House of Lords. Was THE place to be seen pouting and getting your hair cut/styled by coked-out cool types back in the '80s & '90s. Here's a hilarious CFNY promo for HOL from back in the day. You just have to be able to say you've at least driven by it.

** Alex Lifeson's Living Room. Like the sofa? Used to be mine. Bitch.

** Maple Leaf Gardens. Again, you have to say you've done the drive-by. Fucking legendary. Skip the HHOF and just make a movie of yourselves giving MLG a blowjob. I get goosepimply just thinking about the place.

** Squirrels at Queen's Park. These furry little foreigners are Toronto's friendliest residents. And they HATE the Leafs. They prefer NUTS, so you really should oblige them if you can.

** The Just Desserts at 306 Davenport (now a Subway). WTF? A Subway, now? Whatev... This place is an infamous crime scene. So glad I decided against stopping in for some lemon bars that night...

** But seriously. Future's Bakery. You will get hungry at 2:00 AM and will need sustenance from surly Eastern Europeans. The best bakery in the world at Bloor & Bathurst.

Happy Trails and holla at the Annex for me, eh?
